I'm of course very happy about your compliment but also very suprised that you like that work the most. First of all because it was one of my first works. I think  personally I prefer a lot of later pics made by me :star: but don't think I do not aprecciate your choice. I like it's so different.

I can't think of any real critique to give for this but I do have a few things to say. I come from a coastal community, that has a lot of history with fishing. My dad is even a fisherman himself XD. Even without reading the title yet it reminded me of our historical sites around here. So I think you did an excellent job of creating this scene. Though I think in general your photo's have a sort of nostalgic feeling to them :).
I also like the color of the ring you chose, it really captures your eye.

I'm really suprised and glad with your words. I'm suprised because some people said that there was nothing 'fishy' in this pic so why exactely this title ? I think they expect some spectacular attricutes of a fisher's life like fising net or something like this.
I just wanted to show simplicity, cold (sea...) mood and a little bit poor setting.

I think part of the reason it reminded me of this is because it reminds me of my grandmother's house. My grandfather, whom I never got to meet, built the house himself, and there are chairs in the "dining room" that look just like the one in this picture. The blanket also reminds me of the towels and blankets you see made on the big looms at the historical site, or just old dish cloths in general XD.

On another note, its actually more accurate not to have a fishing net in there. Most nets are really big and would take up a lot of space in a house. Not to mention that when fishermen come home, one of the first things they do is try to get the smell of fish off of them, the last thing they would want to do is bring a smelly fish net in the house XD. But at the same time, traditional glass floats that in older days were used for nets are often used for decoration around here. Like this [link] They are very pretty.

Sorry if I rambled there, but all in all, I like the simplicity, it allows you to fill in the story with your own experiences, the fact that it reminded me of my own family helped me see the theme :).

Nice one, but i would have kept the whole back of the chair, without cutting the right part.
 the atmosphere is warm...

thank you for shering your opinion. It was impossible to keep the whole back of the chair without my sweather :( and the sweather destroyed a little bit the composition. But anyway, thank you

This piece speaks to me about a job well done. Note, the towel isn't thrown in as defeat, but it neatly hung after the work is completed.

Wonderful, rather surreal work. I really like how the hand appears to come from someone standing behind the chair yet there is no one.

dag dutch eternity :star: bedankt voor je vriendelijke woorden. Dat was een beetje oncomfortabel om zo te staan dat alleen maar de arm zichbaar was maar met de rest van mijn trui was de compositie een beetje banaal.

When you compare this to the other yellow sweater piece you have in your description this one falls flat. I love the flow and the story of that other photo. This one, while having a great color combination, doesn't say anything. I you had changed the position of the hand/ arm so if it was on an angle or touching the chair differently there wouldn't be such a abrupt composition and there would have been more meaning.

This makes a little storyline from such simple elements. No particular story comes to mind but it brings back some of those isolated moments from long ago when the mind would grab a view like that of my Mom's hand or the hand of the lady that used to help take care of us. All the things that that hand could do would clarify and burn a memory.

I like the balance as well.

A very interesting piece indeed, theDoubleLifeOfLaura. :D
The ring stands out very well against the washed-out yellow and beige, and the towel adds a nice splash of color.

All I'd suggest is to perhaps have a larger, or brighter, ring. I think making the right a more vivid blue would draw the eye to it more.
But overall, nice work! The lighting is very unique, and the concept is very compelling!

I really like the composition here. It leads the audience to imagine and to elaborate their own interpretation of this piece. I like how balanced it looks overall, and how you played with different tones and colors. The blue ring in the center really stands out, and it looks like the focal point of the whole composition. I also like the vintage feeling it conveys. Good job!

Any particular reason for the title you've chosen and how it relates to the photograph...or is it completely literal, meaning we're in a fisher's little hut? LOL! :XD:

ANYWAYS....

I like the ring; it make a good focal point and draws you to the hand, which in turn centralizes the photo. The picture is not busy, flashy or elegant and that works here; seems simple and humble...perhaps like a fisherman.

Simple, I would imagine; but as I'm getting at, it would be stereotypical to say he has to be simple; he might be very complex; but rather, if I was judging it based on your picture, it seems simple and homely, which is a good thing. :)

Well...an earlier time ... when there were more fairy tales. winter, just as it is now. The heat from the fireplace, night, two people drink tea, books scattered on the floor and stacked along the walls .. Something like that, and even more.
